NINA RICCI

In 1932, their haute-couture maison was founded in Paris, France. The designer was Maria Nielli. The name “Nina Ricci” comes from her husband’s family name (Luigi Ricci) and her nickname being combined together. Maria was born in Torino, Italy, in 1883. Her distinctive features, such as a luxurious, clean patterning and use of material, attracted the Parisienne madams at the time. In 1941 her son Robert Ricci began their perfumery line, and in 1948 the perfume “L’Air du Temps” became a big hit. The crystal pigeon on their bottle, symbol of love and freedom, became the Maison’s iconic fragrance. After Maria’s retirement from the brand, variety of successors had served as the artistic director, inheriting the Nina Ricci’s spirit. From 2018, Dutch-born design duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh was assigned creative director. They keep creating for the brand with a poetic, playful designs.
